Clearwater Guardians

Clearwater Guardians Rec Select is a structured youth hockey program at Clearwater Ice Arena designed for players seeking a more competitive, team-focused environment. The program emphasizes development, accountability, and game awareness, while also incorporating community involvement through organized service initiatives that help players grow both on and off the ice.

Ages Groups

Clearwater Guardians offer the following age groups: 8U, 10U, 12U, 14U, and 16U

Duration

The season starts in September and ends in April to early May.

Practices

Practices will be held on Saturdays or Sundays at Clearwater Ice Arena.

USA Hockey Age Classifications | 2026–2027 Season

For the 2026–2027 season, USA Hockey has determined the age groups based on the following birth years:

8U (2019 / 2018) Mites
10U (2017 / 2016) Squirts
12U (2015 / 2014) Peewee
14U (2013 / 2012) Bantam
16U (2011 / 2010) Midget

Team Selection & Player Placement

All players are required to attend tryouts. There are no guaranteed roster spots.

Roster decisions are made by the coaching staff based on evaluation, effort, and overall performance.

Players on the developmental team, may be invited to join tournament teams throughout the season based on progression, commitment, and readiness.

Important: All Clearwater Guardians players must participate in the in-house program at Clearwater Ice Arena to be eligible.

2026/2027 Guardians

The Clearwater Guardians Rec Select season is designed to provide a structured and competitive youth hockey experience at Clearwater Ice Arena. Players participate in consistent team practices, organized games, and tournament play, with a focus on skill development, game awareness, and team play.
